Leaks Can Occur in a Hidden Area and Will Often Remain Unnoticed Until Major Damage Has Been Done.

Unfortunately, many homeowners don't realize they have a potential slab leak situation until some major damage occurs to the home. Leaks may surface from many places such as in between walls and concrete foundation. If you notice water surfacing in a particular area, it does not mean the water leak is in that location.

Remember, water will find the path of least resistance. That is why it is vital to have a professional plumbing technician with all the right equipment to come out and search for leaks. There is nothing worse than having a plumber come into your home, detect leaks in the water line and later find out that the leak is in a different place. This can cost you thousands of dollars in damages and uncomfortable living conditions. When you call Soltherma to locate your leak, it will be there, guaranteed.

Soft Copper

The majority of homes in Texas are built with a concrete slab foundation and soft copper water pipes under the slab. The codes require that soft, bendable copper be used because hard copper joints are not permitted beneath the slab. Prior to pouring the concrete, the soft copper tubing is rolled out along the ground and the ends are turned up to where they will be joined to water lines running to the various parts of the house. Concrete is then poured over the pipes, sealing them beneath the slab foundation. The soft copper tubing is prone to suffer dents and kinks during construction and this can result in a less-than-smooth surface inside the pipes.

Pinhole Leaks

The slightest ridge within the pipe will tend to wear down until it wears through, resulting in crack in a pipe. It's usually the hot water pipe that is the first to go, since this pipe is subject to the expansion and contraction that follows heating and cooling.

High Heating And Water Bills

When a leak occurs under the concrete slab, it is not easy to fix. Left un-handled, it can cause floor damage and other problems, including high heating and water bills.
